Such beautiful art and words. I’m not from Cornwall but my dream is to live there one day as it is the place where I feel most connected to. It’s a magical place and you have captured it perfectly πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

What a lovely piece Anna! You’ve made me realise that for me, Tenby, where I’ve been going since I was a baby, is the place that feels like a spiritual home for me. Maybe for you, the world is yours - I think your wonderful sense of adventure in moving around the world is so inspiring!! And I know just what you mean about how much drawing lights you up and how absorbing it is. I recognise this so much, especially if I have taken a break from sketching outdoors and I come back to it. Perhaps that is a kind of spiritual home - the place of drawing!! Xxx

Thanks so much Ella! And yay for Tenby. You made me want to visit there when you first talked about it - I could hear how much you loved it. And I just love the thought of a place of drawing! And that perhaps being my home. That's so wonderful. Thank you xxx

You seem totally at home there! Xx

So beautiful Anna, both your words and your drawings. I love that you feel most "in your bones" when you're drawing or you're talking about drawing. It means you could possibly be at home everywhere or maybe everywhere where the sea is also.

Thank you so much Ulrike! That is such a wonderful way of thinking about it - that perhaps being most myself when I draw means I can be at home almost anywhere! I love that. Thank you x

Always a pleasure to read your words and see the beautiful images you pair with them (I especially live that sea one that you said you didn’t like so much, the one with the little lighthouse). I have so many similar feelings about not having found that sense of place, though I know which sorts of places fell close to it for me, nearly always spots with hills, trees and coastline (which is probably why I love the drawing I mentioned) . Your seal encounter felt magical to me.

Thank you so much Cally! I am so pleased you enjoyed it. And I hope that one day you find your 'place'! Or at least get to really enjoy a lot more time amongst the trees, hills and coastline that make your heart happy! It's an interesting thing what makes a place pull strongly.

It happened! Last week all the obstacles that usually conspire to keep me house or bedbound were absent for one glorious afternoon. For the first time in 15 years I had a solo walk, straight out the door in pouring rain and (very slowly) retraced a bit of what used to be my daily walk into the Pentland hills (just barely but it felt miraculous and gloriously wet and people free). I reached the bit that your illustration reminded me of, so it felt like you were there too, in the colours and the wildness.

oh wow! That's so incredibly wonderful you managed such a walk! How magical after 15 years (and how hard that it's been so long). And what an honour it feels to have it remind you of my work. That is truly something so special. I'm so pleased you were able to and hope so much that it's possible again xx

Your words and art are so beautiful. T

It was lovely to see the evolution of your sketches and hear you reflect about a sense of home.

I have a similar experience to you. I never really felt home somewhere, but I love the thrill of discovering something new. However with my husband everything we go to tribunj we feel it could one day feel like home. Because our heart is always at peace here.

Let's see where our Destiny takes us, maybe in 10y time you write a similar article again with a place you call home🏑

Thank you so very much Meo! I had to look up Tribunj as I had never heard of it! It looks magical. I hope one get to spend some more time there. And I love imagining that maybe in 10 years time I may have found somewhere! That makes my heart happy. Thank you

I always love your words, but I loved this one so much. We moved around enough when I was a kid that there was never one "home" for me. Home was where my mom and my stuff were. But since I had kids, I've lived in one place (21 years now, moving here when my older child was a baby). It's almost made me afraid to leave it, but we probably will in a couple of years. I used to be used to moving around, every year or two or three. But now... I hope I can regain a sense of adventure. Thank you for continuing to share your perspective on the world. <3

Thank you very much Jenny! And I'm really happy (and also sorry:)) that it resonates with you. Home was definitely where my family were too - although I hated a few places we lived and felt so out of place that there they didn't even fix the feeling I had of being out of place. Sending you a sense of adventure! And thank you so much for reading and sharing your thoughts x
